Dhow
Traditional Significance
Dhows have a rich cultural history in maritime trade, symbolizing age-old sailing traditions in the Middle East.
The museum exhibit about ancient trade routes featured a replica of a dhow.
 Unique Design
Dhows are recognized by their distinctive shape, with a raised stern and triangular sails, different from western boats.
Artists love to paint the unique silhouette of a dhow against the sunset.
 Geographical Usage
While 'dhow' is a common term in Middle Eastern regions, it may be unfamiliar in other parts of the world.
When I mentioned a dhow in class, my European friends didn't know what it was.
