Can I share my WordUp Eagle/Swan membership with other members of my family or friends?

No, you are unable to share one subscription with other people’s accounts. If that person wants to use the Eagle/Swan subscription features on the app, they would have to purchase their own subscription that will be linked to their own account. 

I have achieved 7 referral clicks. Why don't I get Eagle membership?

The referral program allows you to unlock access to all examples' content when you reach 7 clicks. It allows everyone to use the core features of WordUp free of charge by simply telling their friends and family about WordUp.

It's different from the full Pro access which comes with many more benefits, and requires subscription payment.

When are idioms and phrases going to be introduced for WordUp Eagle members?

We are working on it! Expect to see the introduction of idioms and phrases very soon. We are aware there is demand for this feature and we are working very hard to make it available as soon as possible. We will let all our Eagle members know as soon as it is available. We appreciate your patience. 

Can I buy a membership for someone else?

How To Use
Why is the level so easy? I want more difficult words.

By default, the system suggests a range based on your total known vocabulary assessment. 

But you are not limited to that. In the Gap Map page you can see a line for every 1000 words, ranging from the easiest to the hardest. 

You can pick any range that you'd like to focus on.

Why are some words missing in your database?

The English language has hundreds of thousands of words. Most of them are used rarely, or in very specific specialist areas. 

The mission of WordUp is not to be just a dictionary. For that, you have Google. 

WordUp is focused on the most useful words based on how frequently they are globally used. 

However, we will introduce a new feature to allow you to add any custom word, so you can manage all your words in one place.

Some words are underlined or dashed grey. What does that mean?

When reading examples or definitions of any word, WordUp processes every word used in those examples and checks them against your vocabulary data.

  • No underline: means it's either too easy (ranked in the top 300) or you've marked it as already known.

  • Dotted gray underline: means you have marked it as should learn.

  • Yellow underline: means you haven't specified if you know it or not. You should tap it to decide, and build up your WordUp knowledge map.

Account and User
I use WordUp on multiple devices. How can I sync my data?
  1. Go to ‘Profile’ page

  2. Tap on  ‘Options’ 

  3. Find ‘My Data’ box

  4. Tap on ‘Sync’

Some of my progress data disappeared! How can I get it back?

Tap on the options menu, then 'Troubleshooting', then 'Get Help' and then check your email address to make sure you have signed in with the correct email, if not tap on ‘Contact Us’ and send us an email.

How can I delete everything and start fresh?

Tap on the options menu, then ‘Troubleshooting’, and then ‘Delete everything’

Tip: Be careful ‘delete everything’ permanently delete your vocabulary data.

Can I change my email address?

This is only supported for Eagle members currently. If you are a Pro user and want to change your email, please send us an email address from the old email address as proof of ownership, and we will change that for you.

How do I delete my account?

How is my progress data saved? On my phone or the cloud?

Your progress data is initially saved in your phone. When you register, then a copy of your progress data will be saved to the cloud also. This is done every 2-3 minutes while you're using the app. Every time that you log in, your latest data file will be downloaded from the cloud and saved on your device, and the cloud-saving process continues again.

Subscriptions
I do not have a VISA card to purchase subscriptions with, is there an alternative method?

As of now, we are only able to offer an alternative of paypal as a way of purchasing subscriptions. The process is easy. You just send the money via the paypal link below and email your confirmation of payment over to support and once we have seen the proof of payment, we can activate your subscription from there. Please allow 2-3  working days for us to process this.WordUp's Paypal

I was charged for a free trial subscription and I want to get a refund?

If you are an IOS user, then this has happened in fitting with Apple’s terms and conditions. Typically, free trials set up an auto-renewing subscription which you need to manually revoke if you do not want to continue with the subscription after the free trial has ended. You can cancel the subscription and potentially request a refund via this link

I have purchased Eagle/Swan membership but it's not activated. What can I do?

Please try the following:

  • Go to Profile page, tap on ‘Options’

  • In the subscription page, tap the link: Restore Purchase

  • If it didn't work, log-out and then log-in again.

  • If it didn't work, check your iTunes or Google Play account to check if your purchase has been successful.

  • Sync your data

  • If so, please contact us for help: support@wordupapp.co

I no longer would like my Eagle/Swan membership, can I have a refund please?

Unfortunately, we are unable to process any refunds. All sales are final. However, It is to your discretion whether you would like to raise it with apple or google play, and they may have the authority to organise refunds, however it is rare that they do so.

I can't pay online due to restrictions in my area. Is there another way to pay?

Yes. You can buy a WordUp membership gift voucher from us directly using any credit or debit card.

Even if you don't have access to a payment card, please email buy@wordupapp.co to send you local payment details in your area.

Troubleshooting
Why can't I see the translations (in my native language)?

It can be because the translation file is not fully downloaded. 

To fix it, from the Menu tab, go to Preferences. Then toggle the Translation switch off and then back on again. 

Wait for a few seconds and then look up a word.

Why can’t I download it from Google Play?

Occasionally when you try to download WordUp you get an error message. This is due to a problem in the Google store. 

If you try again in a few minutes (or sometimes an hour) it will download successfully.
